Archie Pelago: The Archie Pelago EP
For their second release Mister Saturday Night turn to instrumental house trio Archie Pelago. Comprised of trumpet player and DJ Hirshi , cellist Cosmo D, and saxophonist Kroba they create music that is informed as much by their jazz and classical backgrounds as the dancefloor. Cosmo D and Kroba handle production duties as well. The result is a pastiche of instrumental excursions that weave their way into your ears. The standout track is "Brown Oxford," the cello and sax playing off of each other over deftly programmed drums. Although their music seems like it is best experienced live, Archie Pelago have done a exceptional job of capturing their performance and committing it to wax.
