Blood Diamonds: Phone Sex (feat. Grimes) 12"
Debut 12" for up and coming producer Mike Tucker aka Blood Diamonds. The LA-based producer just signed to 4AD and has teamed up with Grimes for "Phone Sex," his first single on the highly respected label. The production here is already upbeat and catchy as hell, a combination of tropical techno bumps with an infectious pop flair, but add Grimes' candy coated vocals on it and you have a track that's guaranteed to engrain itself in your brain (for better or worse). The 12" comes with a couple remixes - one from Unicorn Kid who proceeds to rave it up, and from Jensen Sportag who gives it an interesting broken beat treatment. Also includes the bouncey synth-pop goodness of "Ritual." Pressed on see through pink vinyl.
