Dinosaur: Kiss Me Again (Arthur Russell) 12"

Dinosaur: Kiss Me Again (Arthur Russell) 12"

I have to admit that I was a little dismayed when this record showed up. After tracking down a version of it on Discogs and spending a little more than you'll have to, someone went ahead and reissued it. Oh well, my record nerd loss is your gain. This song literally sends chills down my spine nearly every time I hear it. "Kiss Me Again" was born out of Arthur Russell and Nicky Siano's Dinosaur project after Russell had spent more than a few nights dancing at the Gallery. It's a track of epic proportions with a jubilant, hands in the air feeling. Along with featuring some extremely funky guitar playing from David Byrne of the Talking Heads, it is also the first record to be produced by a DJ. And it really has the feeling of being made by someone who spent a lot of time DJing for a hungry crowd of dancers. From the first bridge, where the piano allowed some breathing room and then the break hits, you can tell this was made for the dance floor. It closes its 13 minute journey with an intrepidly frenzied build up. These won't be lasting long. Recommended.
