Future Islands: Wave Like Home Vinyl LP
Baltimore-via-North Carolina indie pop trio Future Islands’ debut album repressed! The band came together in the summer of 2007 to record Wave Like Home in Greenville, North Carolina. Due to the band members’ individual home bases being scattered across the state, studio time was limited and the band recorded very fast. According to founding guitarist William Cashion, “We recorded the whole album in 3 days, and we spent about a month mixing it,” a process borne out of necessity which would set the standard of raw but rich and meticulously-produced sound that pervades their later breakthrough work. Originally released by London-based label Upset The Rhythm, Wave Like Home was, and still is, incredibly hard to find on vinyl in the States (second hand copies trade for as much as $200), but Ideas For Housecrafts have remedied that with this 10th anniversary repress with repro artwork, printed lyric sleeve and the full original tracklist from the OG press (“Satie” does not appear on CD or digital versions of the album).
