Grateful Dead: One From The Vault Vinyl 3LP

Grateful Dead: One From The Vault Vinyl 3LP

Of all the recordings the Grateful Dead could have launched their eponymous label with, it had to be this one. Recorded in 1975 at San Francisco's Great American Music Hall, it was one of the first performances the band made after a 19 month hiatus. It also marked the third time that Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart - who hadn't been a participating band member since 1971 - and the husband and wife team of Keith Godchaux and Donna Jean Godchaux took to the stage together. They were set to preview material from their new album Blues for Allah while the show was broadcast over the nationwide Metromedia Radio Network. To top it all off, the recording quality was well above the fidelity of most of the Dead's other master tapes. Granted fans had traded bootleg recordings of the show for years, but that did not stop the Grateful Dead from kicking off the Grateful Dead Records label with the now legendary One From The Vault.
