How Do You Are?: Too Slow To Disco Brasil Compiled By Ed Motta (180g) Vinyl 2LP

How Do You Are?: Too Slow To Disco Brasil Compiled By Ed Motta (180g) Vinyl 2LP

This latest edition of Too Slow To Disco zeroes in on the seemingly never-ending treasure trove of music from Brazil (Music From Memory also selected Brazil for their first multi-artist comp, go figure). DJ Supermarkt and the How Do You Are? crew could have taken the easy way out and simply licensed a dozen Marcos Valle album cuts, but they’ve done due diligence and teamed up with “The Colossus Of Rio” Ed Motta. This conneissuer of breezy Brazilian sounds (and nephew of Tim Maia!) guides you through two decades of “the finest Brazilian soul / AOR / funk / pop / jazz gems”, and at 15 albums deep into career purveying laidback Brazilian sounds, and a personal record collection numbering over 30,000, he’s just the guy you want steering this cruise ship. The collection features tunes by platinum-selling artists alongside deep gems from private press LPs that are so rare they’re not even on Discogs. A heavy American jazz-funk and soul influence permeates these songs, and hardly none of them would be out of place on any previous edition of Too Slow To Disco. Check out Carlos Bivar’s “Maré,” Altay Veloso’s “Débora,” Zeca Do Trombone’s “Rota-Mar,” Brylho’s “Jóia Rara” and phenomenal closing cut “Atlàntida” by Rita Lee (of Os Mutantes!). 20 tracks in total spread over 4 sides of heavy 180g vinyl, download card included.
