His music videos were some of the first to feature repurposed anime visuals, he had an album named after a coin-op arcade classic (Altered Beast - also note the parody of the Yamato Transport logo on the cover), also, he seems to be intimidated by the ladies? Girlfriend sees Sweet reject the sights and sounds of the grunge era in its entirety, instead choosing to craft janglyĀ Big Star and Byrds-indebtedĀ power-pop. Guitar work from Richard Lloyd (Television) and Robert Quine (Richard Hell,Ā Lou Reed) add an angular ferocity to the mix.
