Michal Turtle: Are You Psychic? / Astral Decoy Vinyl 12"

Michal Turtle: Are You Psychic? / Astral Decoy Vinyl 12"

Another cosmic sureshot courtesy of Music From Memory! This time they've dug up a pair of rare experimental synth cuts from Michal Turtle that defy time and easy categorization. Don't be fooled, even though the sounds on these grooves feel like they could've easily been made in recent years - they were actually produced in 1983-1984! Based on these sounds I would wager Michal Turtle is a psychic himself, predicting the future of electronic music - from the minimalist proto-house rhythms with poetic spoken word vocals on "Are You Psychic?" (that bring to mind Arthur Russell if he were to come out in contemporary times), to the brilliant "Astral Decoy" that combines chill wave and cosmic house long before these genres were even a thing. Gear nerds will take note: the tracks were crafted with a minimal (but awesome) setup of Juno 60, Roland 606, Aria SB600, and Arp 2600. Easy recommendation.
