Mikael Seifu / Dawit Eklund: Tuff Ruff / Psycho Animus Vinyl 12"
Another impressive release from DC's 1432R imprint. This is the second release from the label and once again Mikael Seifu makes an appearance, this time splitting sides with newcomer Dawit Eklund. Like the first 12", Seifu takes a bold approach to dance music, blending Ethio-folk influences with contemporary UK vibes on "Tuff Ruff". The result is a absolutely gorgeous, and recalls the work of Burial, but with an African slant. On the flip, Dawit Eklund makes his wax debut with "Psycho Animus," a deep house burner packed with rich pads and floating bass reminiscent of some of Larry Heard's best. Awesome work all around, recommended.
