Soundgarden: Down On The Upside (180g) Vinyl LP

Soundgarden: Down On The Upside (180g) Vinyl LP

Following up 1994’s mainstream smash Superunknown grunge co-architects Soundgarden released Down on the Upside in 1996. Self produced by the band, the album shifts away from its signature sound—heavy guitar riffs—in favor of vocals and melodies, and it’s been said that this change in the musical direction partly fueled the eventual breakup of the foursome in 1997. Down On The Upside, like previous releases, experiments with different sound signatures and guitar tuning (more heavily so, however), and due to Chris Cornell and gang gunning for a ā€œliveā€ sound, it embodies a rawer, grittier feel. Although not as successful as the aforementioned 4th LP, Down On The Upside, which came at the latter end of the grunge reign, is hands down a ā€˜90s gem, and it sounds awesome even after 20 years. This is the remastered 180g official reissue.
