Ice Cream Castle is the third album from The Time, a Minnesota band closely associated with Prince. As a matter of fact, the Purple One, as The Starr * Company, is the producer/arranger of the record, which includes one of the group's biggest hits, "Jungle Love." The LP was released in conjunction with The Time's appearance in the movie Purple Rain, which helped the full-length crossover into the mainstream, and it remains the outfit's best-selling work to date. Sound wise, Ice Cream Castle is a prime example of the synth-aided soul-funk-pop flavor of Minneapolis, which make sense, as The Time, alongside Prince, is often credited with helping shape the city's distinctive style.
