Three Chairs: Demigods (Kenny Dixon Jr, Theo Parrish) EP

Three Chairs: Demigods (Kenny Dixon Jr, Theo Parrish) EP

Detroit is in the house! What more can you say when 3 Chairs are on deck? The quartet of seasoned producers is back with the four track Demigods EP. It's interesting because you can hear the touch of Theo Parrish, Kenny Dixon Jr, Rick Wilhite and Marcellus Pittman throughout the record. Whether it's the minimalism of Pittman as witnessed in the title track or the looseness of Theo in "Celestial Contact," each of them seems to have their way within the tracks. Demigods is a masterclass in Detroit style production. On a side note, I'm always impressed with the way the Detroit producers have been able to keep a hold on their music (the numerous KDJ bootlegs floating around not withstanding). They pretty much all have their own labels, or release each other's music. And they've created the Three Chairs label just for these releases. Seems to be working well for them. Don't sleep.
