Trentemoller: The Last Resort Vinyl 2LP

Trentemoller: The Last Resort Vinyl 2LP

Anders Trentemoller released The Last Resort in 2006, and the groundbreaking album, praised for its astonishing composition and sound design, is as breathtaking as ever. Conveying a wide range of emotions, the 9 instrumentals on the LP are characterized by "subtle melodic miniatures, dreamy ambiences, dusty beats, and driving groove-excursions." They are electronic productions but incorporate a variety of acoustic instruments, which add an organic feel to the overall sound. While the dance framework—techno, tech house, etc—is present at large, the tracks are not necessarily geared toward the dancefloor. Rather, the album remains introspective throughout, and the vibe is closer to a soundtrack for a film than something you'll hear during a night out. Speaking on the project, Trentemoller says, "it reflects my life, my thoughts, my needs, my insecurities, my longings." It's personal, constantly shifting in mood, and contain calm as well as stirring moments, with some of the highlights being "Miss You," "Take Me Into Your Skin" and "Into the Trees."
